X bans Changpeng Zhao’s account after removing the name change ‘Binance’
Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has limited explanation other than that former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao “may have violated X's rules.”
In the year On November 23, X users can only see the CZ account after clicking a button to confirm that it is “temporarily limited”. Zhao resigned as CEO of the crypto exchange Binance on November 21 as part of a settlement with the United States authorities in which he pleaded guilty to a serious charge.
In a Nov. 23 update from Zhao following the incident, the former Binance CEO speculated that the ban was an automatic response by changing his profile name from “CZ Binance” to “CZ BNB”:
“The X bot detection algorithm needs some work. [Elon Musk]. It doesn't identify the bad bots, and mistakenly targets real people.

It is unclear whether CZ, who is known to be an active user of the social media platform, will reduce his posts after stepping down as CEO of Binance. Richard Teng, the crypto exchange's head of global regional markets, has taken the lead role, although he has a modest 231,600 followers on X compared to Zhao's 8.7 million.

On November 21, the United States Department of Justice announced a $4.3 billion settlement with Binance, requiring CZ to pay $150 million as part of a civil case with regulators. Binance's former CEO has pleaded guilty to one felony count related to failing to maintain an effective anti-money laundering program.
