XRP, Solana rise amid reports on CME futures contracts

XRP and Solana prices rose as the market responded to reports of CME's proposed XRP and SOL futures contracts.
Both altcoins traded above key levels, XRP above $3.26 and SOL above $269.

XRP and Solana prices rose slightly on Wednesday following news that institutional-focused trading platform Chicago Mercantile Exchange will list XRP and SOL futures contracts.

XRP jumped 3% to over $3.26 and Solana's SOL rose over 6% to $2.70 as of press time. Altcoins traded higher as investors reacted to CME adding both XRP futures and SOL futures contracts on February 10, 2025.

Notably, the official CME website does not publish details of futures contracts. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seifert shared this via X.

Eric Balchunas, senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, shared a post on X citing plans to launch CME futures products.

According to the analyst, the platform's future products await regulatory approval. Meanwhile, the move could see Solana's futures exchange-traded fund hit the market “as early as mid-March”.

However, with ETFs in the property space likely to arrive soon amid a shift in regulatory approach under the new SEC leadership, it's a matter of waiting to see how demand performs down the road.
