Yat Siu launched the open campus layer-3 EDU chain with Arbitrum
Open Campus, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) focused on onchain education, has launched its layer-3 blockchain, EDU Chain, on Arbitrum Orbit.
Introduced on January 17, the blockchain is designed to support educational applications and onchain learning powered by the EDU token.
A unique feature of EDU Chain is the Open Campus (OC) achievement system, formerly known as Verifiable Credentials. This system allows educational institutions and training centers to generate decentralized, decentralized records of students' qualifications.
Yat Siu, Founder and CEO and Board Member of Animoka Brands, said: “Currently in private beta, Open Campus Achievements is a decentralized universal system that enables educational institutions and training centers to generate records of student performance and results. The EDU Foundation told Cointelegraph.
According to CU, OC achievements are self-sovereign records stored in the student's digital wallet, fully owned and controlled by the student. No party, including the OC, can access the data without the student's consent.
“By allowing users to selectively share their academic records, education providers can access relevant information, allowing them to tailor personalized learning experiences.”
EDU Chain has reached $150 million in total value locked (TVL), making it the largest layer-3 blockchain by this measure, L2Beat reports. The mainnet launch follows a testnet campaign with 86.2 million transactions and 358,684 unique active wallets. The developers behind TestNet's 47 decentralized applications (DApps) are now deploying their applications on the network.

Incentives for developers and users
Open Campus has launched two major initiatives to expand its ecosystem.
The first is a hackathon series with a $1 million prize. The second initiative, OC Incubator, is a 12-week program to scale projects from hackathon winners. Developers receive mentoring, funding opportunities and support to help bring DApps to market.
OC has launched a reward program for mainnet users. Season One allows users to earn Yuzu points by participating with DApps on the EDU Chain.
in the future
Siu explained that educational content “allows educators to turn their knowledge into a capital asset, easily capture, manage and monetize their content. He also highlighted learning-to-learn models that reward continuous skill development by connecting it to real-world value.
Siu pointed out that blockchain-based education financing will improve the availability of funds and simplify procedures for lenders and students. In the year He said that by 2025, the combination of AI, Web3 and education will bring significant changes.
“AI-powered platforms are rapidly evolving to provide personalized and adaptive learning experiences, while blockchain technology ensures the security and authentication of educational data and credentials. This combination of AI and Web3 represents a revolutionary change that will have a fundamental impact on global education,” he said.
