ZachXBT impersonators are active potential victims: report them

Following the suspension of his official account, reports of multiple accounts impersonating ZachXBT, a well-known blockchain investigator known for publicly exposing fraudulent cryptocurrency projects, are circulating on social media.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) to his 12,700 followers, Michael Kekoyan, director of partnerships at Web3 security firm Wallet Guard, pointed out that the popular blockchain hacker is pretending to scam people.

Speaking to Cointelegraph, Kekoyan said that following the suspension of the official ZachXBT profile today, a number of fraudulent accounts have emerged.

“On ZachXBT, there are currently a lot of accounts that mimic his screen name and use the pretense of helping the user use an already frustrating situation to their advantage.”

Many accounts that impersonate popular profiles, such as ZachXBT, frequently trick users into clicking phishing links and engaging in scams, urging users to be vigilant.

On X, a user who goes by the name ‘Nathan.eth' posted a screenshot on Telegram saying that ZachXBT had deactivated his account “indefinitely”.

Earlier this year, ZackXBT was front and center in a legal battle following his diligent investigative work against Jeffrey Huang, known as MachieBigBrother on Twitter.

On June 16, Huang filed a defamation lawsuit against ZachXBT on Twitter, alleging that he had tarnished his reputation with false allegations.

Although Huang did not reveal those allegations, in June 2022, ZachXBT published a story entitled: The Story of Macchi's Big Brother (Jeff Huang), 22,000 ETH looted and more than ten projects failed.

Two days after the lawsuit was filed, ZachXBT received over $1 million in donations from the crypto community to pay for its legal fees.

Donors include crypto exchange Kraken's co-founder Binance Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, former CEO, and Polygon founder Sandeep Nilwal.

Cointelegraph reached out to ZachXBT for comment, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
