A leading provider of open source, chain-agnostic zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) technology, has officially transitioned from the incubation stage within the MetisDAO Foundation.

The solution uses a microprocessor with Interlocked Pipelined Stages (MIPS) architecture so that existing Layer 2 networks including Optimism, Arbitrum and Metis can benefit from the same processors that power the Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and Tesla Model S computer vision chips.

Designed to use a reduced instruction set architecture to improve processing time and performance, ZKM provides future compatibility with alternative Layer 1s (L1s), including BNB, Solana, Fantom, Avalanche, Celo, and more.

“In addition to streamlining on-chain and off-chain data, ZKM can plug into all existing L1s and add proven computing resources that include MiPS processors to IoT and ML.” said Kevin Liu, co-founder of ZKM.

Beyond blockchain, ZKM integrates zkMIPS to facilitate non-blockchain systems including Internet of Things (IoT), Zero Knowledge Machine Learning (ZKML) and Cloud Computing – all to provide secure and private communications with connected devices and networks.

Additionally, Polyhedra Network Co-Founder James Zhang said:

“The basic concept behind ZKMIPS focuses on building a STARK prover based on the MIPS framework, which includes various optimizations. In addition, the paper introduces iterative proofs to reduce proof size and gas cost, and proposes proof summation to further increase prover efficiency.

ZKM also ensures secure computation by verifying all transactions using Ethereum's extensive decentralized security base.
