Nathan Allman, the founder of Ondo Finance, died unexpectedly at the age of 32
Allman has been a proponent of blockchain-based technology and has taken the RWAs sector to new heights.
Nathan Allman, founder and CEO of Ondo Finance, has passed away suddenly at the age of 32, the company announced in a statement. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Ondo described Allman as the driving force behind the company, acknowledging the team's vision, leadership and belief in using technology to build a more open and accessible financial system.
Ian de Bode was named CEO
The company said its impact on the company and the broader crypto industry “can't be overstated.” Allman founded Ondon in 2021 after previously working on digital assets initiatives at Goldman Sachs. A graduate of Brown University, Ondon helped establish leading players in the real-world asset (RWA) sector.
While leading the company, Ondo introduced several major products, including USDY, a yield-yielding stablecoin, OUSG, a US Treasury fund, and tokenized stocks through Ondo Global Markets.
After his death, Ondo announced that longtime president Ian de Bode would take over as CEO. According to the company, De Bode has overseen Ondo's strategy, products and day-to-day operations for more than two years and has the full support of the management team.
“We will continue to build on what Nate started. This is the most meaningful way we know how to honor him.”
Taxes poured in quickly from the crypto industry following Allman's death. Former Binance CEO C.Z. called him a “pioneer in RWA,” while Chris Giancarlo, former chairman of Commodity Futures Trading Commission, described him as “a very special talent.” Meanwhile, Crucible founder Meltham Demirers remembered Allman as “kind, caring, considerate.”
