Animoca Will Be The Eyes Of The Sportsfine Ecosystem, The Authenticator Of The Chiliz Chain.

Venture capital firm Animoka Brands will put behind the backer token.

ChilizChain is the backbone of Socios.com, a platform that operates many fan tokens for some of the world's biggest soccer and sports teams. Europe's most beloved football clubs and several household sports brands have already implemented the solution to power Web3's fan tokens and other blockchain-based offerings.

Animoca Brands founder Yat Siu said the partnership will allow the company to combine its expertise in non-exploding tokens (NFTs) and gaming with Chiles' focus on sports and entertainment-focused blockchain solutions.

“We've already seen the growth of DeFi and GameFi, and we believe SportsFi represents the next big growth area that will redefine fan engagement and create new financial changes in the sports industry.”

Chiliz CEO Alexander Dreyfuss added that the addition of Animoca as a network authenticator marks a milestone in the company's history as a leading blockchain solution focused primarily on powering Web3 operations and the broader sports industry.

Animoca Brands becomes the latest authenticator of the Chili's chain, joining the likes of Ankr, Paribu, Meria, Luganoes and InfStones as authenticators. Similar to proof-of-concept blockchain protocols like Ethereum, validators enable the creation of peer tokens, NFTs, and decentralized applications as well as validating transactions and executing smart contracts.

Animoka has a wide range of investments in the web3 space and focuses on the sports sector. Its Web 3 sports products include One Fight Arena, AFL Mint and REVV Motorsport. The latter includes the likes of MotoGP Ignition, MotoGP Guru, Formula E: High Voltage, REVV Racing and Torque Drift.

Animoca grabbed headlines in April 2022 by acquiring French racing game developer Eden Games for $15.3 million. The agreement aims to acquire racing development talent to improve REVV Motorsport's ecosystem and introduce blockchain-based games focused on the genre.
