Bit Digital focuses from Bitcoin mining to Ethereum and AI.
TLDR
Bit Digital has decided to exit Bitcoin mining and refocus on Ethereum and AI infrastructure. Ethereum will be an integral part of Bit Digital's strategy, with more than 150,000 ETH in prize pool. AI infrastructure is prioritized by Bit Digital with a large share of white fiber, focusing on computing power. White Fiber Investments is viewed as a long-term strategic asset, with no plans to sell shares through 2026. Bit Digital is moving towards programmatic financial infrastructure and AI-driven computing as key growth areas.
Bit Digital (BTBT) has announced its decision to exit Bitcoin mining and move towards Ethereum and AI infrastructure. The company plans to invest in Ethereum through staking and network participation, along with its stake in AI infrastructure firm WhiteFiber.
Bit Digital's strategic focus is on Ethereum as a core asset
CEO Sam Tabar explained in a statement that Bit Digital Ethereum now plays a central role in the strategy. The company previously recognized the potential of Ethereum in 2022, and in 2025, it became the main focus.
“We see Ethereum not just as a token, but as a programmable financial infrastructure with long-term value,” Tabar said.
Bit Digital has more than 150,000 ETH in reserve and most of it is responsible for creating the native rewards of the protocol. The move marks a shift towards a more productive infrastructure, focusing on engagement and value creation rather than speculation.
Ethereum's role in Bit Digital's portfolio centers around its use in payments, computing and capital markets. By focusing on Ethereum, Bit Digital aims to position itself in a growing system of engagement, liquidity and operations. This change comes after it was realized that Bitcoin mining, although successful in the past, was not in line with the company's long-term goals.
Strategic investment in AI infrastructure
Alongside Ethereum, Bit Digital has further increased its exposure to AI infrastructure through its large stake in White Fiber. Demand for AI-based computing continues to grow, but the infrastructure for reliable capacity is limited.
“Through White Fiber, we have exposure to infrastructure that provides the computing capacity to meet this demand,” Tabar explained. Bit Digital's stake represents a long-term strategy focused on White Fiber's growing demand for AI infrastructure.
Beat Digital has decided to hold its White Fiber stake for the long term, avoiding selling any shares through 2026. Bit Digital sees White Fiber as a critical part of its infrastructure portfolio, adding exposure to Ethereum. The company sees this as an important part of its dynamic business model.
