Coingecko Allows Access To On-Chain Dex Data Via Api

Digital asset data aggregator CoinGecko has launched a feature that allows the community to easily access data from on-chain decentralized exchanges (DEXs).

On February 28, CoinGecko announced that it is making its DEX data available through an application programming interface (API). The data is supported by the DEX tracking arm GeckoTerminal. With the new integration, users can access a unified API for crypto prices, market data and metadata. Additionally, on-chain liquidity pool information is also available for cryptocurrencies not yet listed on CoinGecko.

According to CoinGecko, this new product update expands its API coverage to 2.2 million tokens with 2.5 million liquidity pools. This means users can access data from 900 DEXs across 120 networks. This includes decentralized trading platforms Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Orca, Curve and Balancer. This data is now available to CoinGecko paid API subscribers via 20 new endpoints.

CoinGecko co-founder Bobby Ong said the new update shows their commitment to empowering the crypto community with digital asset pricing and market information. Ong explained.

“On-chain DEX data can now be accessed through the CoinGecko API, so users can use the data without having to consolidate it from multiple sources, tapping into the decentralized ecosystem and opening up new avenues of product innovation.”

CoinGecko's announcement follows several developments in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. On February 22, Aave deployed its lending protocol on the BNB Chain network. The BNB Chain Core Development team told Cointelegraph in an earlier statement that this integration will allow developers on the network to launch applications that build on Aave's liquidity.

Meanwhile, Uniswap will launch a web extension for its native wallet on February 27. DEX said in an announcement that it will allow users to send, receive, buy and exchange digital assets directly from their browsers. Uniswap says there is a waiting list of users who have requested uni.eth usernames. They wrote that they will give these users access to the beta version of the extension.
