The Ethereum Foundation sees 2 more high-profile startups

The Ethereum Foundation saw the resignation of two senior researchers on Monday, bringing the total number of high-level departures at the organization in recent months to at least eight.

Both Ethereum Foundation researchers, Julian Ma and Carl Bick, have completed their respective four- and seven-year tenures at the organization.

Ma contributed to Ethereum's censorship-resistant features and cross-layer bridging algorithms and strategy, while Beck contributed to the early design of Beacon Chain, which introduced proof-of-stake to the blockchain.

Ma and Beek will add to this year's wave of high-profile startups from the Ethereum Foundation, bringing the total to five top developers and researchers who released only in May.

Ma said in a post to X that he is leaving the Ethereum Foundation to focus on product and development, calling the organization “an amazing place, but not right for my next steps.”

Beck told X-Post that he will be leaving on May 29 and will be spending time with his wife and 1-month-old son for now.

Last year, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced major leadership changes and a new direction for the foundation, which was in response to criticism from Ethereum users on the management of its long-term road map, with the aim of bringing new talent to the organization to develop the protocol for higher and faster production.

Cointelegraph reached out to the Ethereum Foundation for comment.
