Syvers Alerts reported the suspected Trubit incident on January 8, after monitoring discovered suspicious transactions with an estimated loss of $26 million. TRU's on-chain price has posted a -99.95% one-day move on at least one token tracker, a level that typically indicates a DEX liquidity collapse or broken price feed rather than normal selling pressure.

Onchain details

The tag “Truebit Protocol: Purchase” maps to 0x764C64b2A09b09Acb100B80d8c505Aa6a0302EF2 on Ethereum, making EtherScan the address of the Truebit contract. Severus' estimate is centered on 8,535 ETH (at ~$3.1k/ETH, about $26m), and the open question for the tables is whether ETH represents treasury funds, or a misdirected “buying” path, or a hot wallet that was corrupted by a project sale (in “All”) related to Trubit's TRU sales stream.

CoinGecko data showed TRU trading at $0.1611 (+4.1% in 24h) before falling to $0.00007923.

Truebit lists the TRU token contract at 0xf65B5C5104c4faFD4b709d9D60a185eAE063276c, which is important because confusion between “Truebit (TRU)” and “TrueFi (TRU)” frequently pollutes performance and risks slowing down systems.

Business desk reading

For table, sell signal is not “TRU down 99.95%”. The token was placed in the middle of a suspected 8,535 ETH loss on a posted buy contract (a flow that could affect treasury ETH, payment rails, or sales mechanics), which would still add the same risk to any strategy quoting TRU and opening ticker signals alone (TRU has a long history with real token conflict).

Expect market makers to expand or pull quotes until the correct flow path (treasury and user flow and account error) is mapped to a specific transaction path and signer controlled by TrueBit.
