Trump’s Bitcoin sneakers are on eBay for $2,500.
A pair of Donald Trump's limited-edition orange Bitcoin-themed sneakers have made their way to eBay, with skulls hoping to sell their place in the pre-order queue for up to $2,500.
At the time of writing, there are 12 listings on eBay for the ‘Bitcoin Orange' high-top. Prices start as low as $700 in live auctions but go up to $2,500 in “best offer” conditions. One offer set the price at $69,999 as a joke.
However, there's no telling if the sellers will keep their word or if the listings are legit.
Most listings promise to ship the shoes to their buyers once they receive them, which is expected between September and November. Most of the sellers seem to be top notch, although more than one has been accused of being a “scam” in the buyer feedback section.
The Trump Bitcoin-themed sneaker went live for pre-order on the official Trump Sneakers website on July 31, with a limited edition of 1,000 orange high-tops. They sold out in three hours.
Specifically, the website says five pairs of the limited edition shoes will be randomly signed by Trump — meaning Trump sneakers will have a 1 in 200 chance of receiving a signed pair.
Two other shoes have yet to appear on eBay. Although limited to 1,000 each, they are still marked as available on the Trump Sneakers website. The orange low-tops and black high-tops are available for pre-order for $299. A few are also automatically defined.
Aside from the crypto-themed footwear, the Trump group sells a variety of Trump-themed items, including perfume, a “Freedom” cooler — listed for $299 — and other shoes emblazoned with various Trump-related phrases and the American flag. Decals.
The move to create a crypto-themed grocery list follows Trump's sudden change of heart on cryptocurrency earlier this year. Since then, he has made pro-Crito policies a cornerstone of his re-election campaign.
Days after Trump's speech in Nashville
The shoes went on sale days after the July 25 Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, where Trump pledged to create a “strategic national bitcoin reserve,” meaning the US government would never sell anything if he were elected president. It holds $12 billion in confiscated bitcoins in reserve.
Trump has changed his tune on Bitcoin over the past few years.
In the year In 2021, the former president described Bitcoin as “a scam” and said he had no interest in cryptocurrencies, saying they were technically worthless compared to assets in the US dollar.
