WalletConnect Foundation and Reown established a framework of UX standards
The WalletConnect Foundation and REO have launched a comprehensive guide for crypto wallets and WalletConnect Certified – User Experience (UX) standards to encourage better design, quality and user interface across the blockchain wallet ecosystem.
Currently, 19 wallets are WalletConnect certified, including Binance Web3 Wallet, SafePal Wallet, TokenPocket, Timeless X, Safe Wallet, Zerion Wallet, Crypto.com, DeFi Wallet, Ronin Wallet, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet, Bitget Wallet, UniswapWallet. , Rainbow, Bybit, Kraken Wallet, 1 Inch Wallet, imToken, Ledger and MetaMask.
In a statement to Cointelegraph, WalletConnect Foundation Director Pedro Gomez explained the mechanism behind WalletConnect's certification requirements:
“The excellence of Onchain UX standards includes several factors that are determined after user feedback and community collaboration. The areas we focused on included, reducing clicks, reducing transaction friction, creating interactions and providing clear and accessible information. The CAIP-25 standard played an important role in this initiative. “
Gomes also said that the requirements will continue to evolve in response to changing user needs and market needs.

Poor user experience and interfaces that prevent mass adoption
“One of the main barriers to mainstream adoption is UX. Currently, blockchain is not easy for the average person,” Gomez told Cointelegraph. Complicated user interfaces act as a high technical barrier – preventing mass adoption, and a simple user interface is one of the reasons for new adopters to consider crypto wallets.
Chain abstraction and communication friction reduction are key components to providing an improved user experience. However, industry executives argue that ease-of-use for end consumers often takes a back seat to security measures – adding to the complexity of dealing with cryptocurrencies, decentralized finance and Web3 applications.
“WalletGuide and WalletConnect Certified is a community initiative” that relies on input from wallet providers and users to streamline the user experience, Gomes explained.
Developers and the wider crypto community have consistently spoken of the need for simpler user interfaces and experiences.
In the year In 2023, prominent developer 0xDesigner likened the complexity of many modern crypto apps to driving a manual transmission car – arguing that next-generation cryptocurrency and blockchain infrastructure should be “invisible” to the average user.
