Aave-Linked DeFi United Details rETH recovery plan
Aave-linked mining group Defi United has released a technical implementation plan to restore rETH support after the April 18 Kelp Bridge exploit released 116,500 rETH worth $293 million, without a similar burn on Unichain.
The scheme deposits committed Ether (ETH) to rETH in exchange tokens in the compromised bridge lockbox. LayerZero and Kelp implemented additional safety measures before the bridge returned to full operation, Ave said.
In parallel, Diffie United plans to clean up the attacker-related sites on Aave and Compound and address the market disruptions caused by the exploit. The team said seven addresses linked to the exploit still hold positions backed by rsETH on Aave and Compound, representing 107,000 rETH of the original 116,500 rETH released in the incident.

The proposed sequence would temporarily adjust the price of the rsETH oracle to enable controlled liquidity, transfer the resulting holdings to DeFi United multisig, restore the oracle, redeem rETH for ETH, and use the resulting funds to clear the deficit in the affected markets.
The recovery plan moves the rETH effort from pledges and public commitments to an integrated technical process that relies on regulatory approvals, interim term changes, and implementation of multiple DeFi protocols. While the process is designed to restore support for rsETH, it remains undisturbed by DAO votes, completed agreements, and attacker verification steps.

Ethereum supporters have joined the recovery effort
The technical plan follows previous efforts to secure funding and administrative support for the recovery of rETH.
On Monday, Consensys and Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin joined DeFi United with a commitment of up to 30,000 ETH, while Sharplink, a publicly traded Ethereum treasury company, joined in an advisory role to help structure the recovery plan.

On the same day, Aave Labs requested the release of 30,765 ETH held by the Security Council of Arbitrum after the exploitation of Arbitrum Dao and to send the funds to DeFi United.

As of Tuesday, the DeFi United website showed a total of $302.26 million raised or committed to recovery, equivalent to 132,706.903 ETH, although some pledges remain subject to the DAO's vote and final execution.
