Ethereum Foundation Launches $1M Audit Support Initiative
The Ethereum Foundation on Tuesday confirmed the launch of the Ethereum Security Grant Program. The firm has partnered with digital asset consultancy firm Areta to manage the process. Areta uses its audit marketplace to connect developers with nearly 20 professional security organizations.
The foundation will allocate $1 million to this initiative. Selected projects may receive support covering up to 30% of audit costs. The program selects new fellows each month through an integrated evaluation process.
Fin Boothroyd, CEO of Areta Market, explained the structure in a public statement. It says, “Ethereum's security grant program is a joint initiative with top-tier audit providers.” He added that an expert committee will be in charge of the evaluation and selection process.
Blockchain data startup Chainlink and Ethereum execution client Nethermind help vet applicants. They evaluate the technical feasibility, feasibility and commitment to Ethereum development. The Foundation gives priority to teams with proven track records and clear creative goals.
The program focuses on projects aligned with CROPs principles. CROPs stands for censorship resistance, open source, privacy and security values. Last month, the foundation published an order naming CROPs as core ecological principles.
The Ethereum Foundation continues to expand its security efforts. Last year, he introduced a trillion-dollar safety initiative to raise standards. The new grant program builds on previous commitments.
More than 20 audit firms join the ecosystem-supported grant program
More than 20 security firms have joined the program supporting the audit market. Participating firms include Blocksec, Cetora, Hacken, Quantstamp and Immunefi. These organizations provide auditing services for approved Ethereum projects.
Aretha previously supported Solana Developers with a $1 million grant. The company designed its marketplace to match blockchain teams with vetted auditors. A program focused on Ethereum follows a similar structure.
Security audits remain expensive for developers, the foundation said. “Security audits are great, but expensive,” he wrote on X. The subsidy program will strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem, he added.
Industry participants continue to launch related initiatives. Last month, Aave Labs announced a $1.5 million audit program for Aave V4. That program aims to strengthen protocol security standards.
One of the participating organizations, Immunefi, operates a decentralized donation platform. Anchorage Digital recently supported Eminefi's efforts. The Ethereum Security Grants Program now integrates such organizations into the evaluation network.
The initiative targets developers who show a real commitment to building on Ethereum. It assesses technical readiness and innovation before awarding funds. The foundation will begin selecting projects for the monthly joint group under the new schedule.
